January marked a powerful start to the year for the Wave community. Every browsing session, every tab opened, and every click helped turn everyday internet use into real-world ocean impact through our certified cleanup partnership with 4ocean.
This January Impact Report highlights what we accomplished together and how small, consistent actions online can lead to measurable environmental change.
January 2026 Impact at a Glance

In January 2026, Wave’s partnership impact focused on cleanup efforts in Indonesia, supporting local crews working directly in coastal and river environments.
January Impact Highlights:
- 7,511 pounds of plastic and trash removed from our ocean, rivers, and coastlines
- 19 cleanup events conducted during the month
- 77,538 pounds removed as part of Wave’s lifetime partnership impact
These numbers represent more than statistics; they reflect cleaner waterways, safer marine habitats, and real progress toward save the ocean.
Where the Cleanup Happened

January’s cleanup efforts took place in Indonesia once again, a region deeply affected by ocean plastic pollution. By supporting cleanups in regions with urgent need, Wave helps ensure that impact is both meaningful and measurable.
Local cleanup crews, supported by Wave and 4ocean, removed waste directly from shorelines and waterways where it can cause the most harm to marine life and coastal communities.
Once plastic and trash are collected, the work continues beyond the shoreline. Cleanup materials go through a structured processing system designed to responsibly handle recovered waste:
- Sorting: Materials are sorted by type, grade, and color
- Shredding: Sorted materials are ground into fine-grained pieces
- Washing: Materials are cleaned in wash tanks that separate floating and sinking items
- Drying & Processing: Clean material is prepared for reuse and repurposing
This process ensures recovered materials are handled responsibly and kept out of the environment for good.
Why This Impact Matters

Plastic and trash don’t just disappear; they break down into microplastics that affect marine life, ecosystems, and ultimately people. If you’ve ever wondered how much garbage is in the ocean, the scale of the problem shows why removing waste early is so important.
Early cleanup helps protect biodiversity and reduces long-term environmental damage. Wave’s mission is built on the idea that making a difference shouldn’t require changing how you browse.
By integrating verified ocean cleanup directly into everyday browsing, Wave makes impact part of your daily routine.
Looking Ahead
January is just the beginning. With every new month, Wave continues working toward long-term goals to support ocean cleanup at scale. Each user strengthens the collective impact and every browsing session brings us closer to a cleaner ocean.
